Private Vehicle or Car Rental
Driving to the Monastery is the most convenient way of getting to the Monastery and provide the most flexibility. Renting a car is oftentimes the cheapest option next to public transport, especially for stays of a week or less.
Uber or Lyft Rideshare
A recent estimate (Fall 2025) obtained from the Uber App shows a price range of USD $90-150 from San Diego Airport to the Monastery. Pricing depends on many factors such as driver availability, type of service, time of day, etc. It may also be affected by surge pricing (high demand). An alternate option is to take public transit from San Diego Airport to the Escondido Transit Center, then arrange an Uber or Lyft from Escondido to the Monastery. The Uber App shows a price range of USD $35-45 for a ride between Escondido and the Monastery.
Taxi
Guests have done it, but using Uber or Lyft RideShare will be cheaper.
